Check out our new photo gallery, www.woodstockmusicshop.com/gallery, capturing images throughout the Town of Woodstock on the weekend where thousands visited to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. The anniversary was celebrated throughout the Hudson Valley, attracting huge crowds to the Town of Woodstock and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, site of the original festival some 90 minutes from Woodstock.
In Woodstock, they came from Jersey, Long Island, Philadelphia, Boston and even Europe -- lining the streets of the famed town where the festival was born, and packing the shop. Live music on the Green, at the Colony Cafe and at Andy Lee Field, as well as the Roots of Woodstock show at Bearsville Theater and the continuing Guitar Festival next door at the Colony, made for one packed day of music.
At Bethel, on the other side of the Catskill Mountains, thousands attended the sold-out Heroes of Woodstock Concert Saturday night, as well as a number of packed smaller events at the site, which includes the Woodstock Museum.
At the shop, the weekend included live music Sunday afternoon on the shop's lawn featuring StoneDeaf with Ken Schneidman & Jonny Wa, plus Gordon Wemp and others. Monday afternoon featured a book signing with Abigail Yasgur, author of “Max Said Yes!” The event included prizes/giveaways, children’s crafts and live music with Mike & Ruthy -- and a special visit by Michael Lang, the Festival's creator.
