Although the name has changed over the years -- from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to, finally, just Starship -- the band continues to keep its core fan base, while picking up new fans along the way. Jefferson Airplane's 1967 "Surrealistic Pillow" launched the band's success, garnering two Top Ten hits along the way: "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit," featuring the powerful vocals of Grace Slick. Previous members have included: Prairie Prince (the Tubes and Todd Rundgren), Spencer Dryden, former Woodstock resident Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady from Hot Tuna and British drummer Aynsley Dunbar from Journey.
The current line-up includes former founding members singer/songwriter/guitarist Paul Kantner and vocalist Marty Balin. For more about the band, go to http://www.myspace.com/jeffersonstreeofliberty.
