Legendary multimedia artist Todd Rundgren and the New York Dolls reunited recently – for the first time in over 35 years – to collaborate on the Dolls’ newest studio album. Rundgren, who produced the original punk/glamour rock Dolls’ debut album in 1973, is completing production from his home studio on the Island of Kauai in Hawaii. The album is due for release in late spring, with a world tour to follow. The Dolls’ last album, released in 2006, was a reunion project that featured surviving members David Johansen – a longtime Woodstock-area resident – and Sylvain Sylvain.
Stay tuned for more updates.
In the meantime, you can catch the Dolls this Friday, February 20, at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Joining them are Blue Scarlet Coop, featuring Joe and Albert Bouchard, original members of Blue Oyster Cult; Dennis Dunaway, who worked with Alice Cooper; and Richie Scarlet from Mountain.
Doors open at 7 p.m.; show starts at 8. Tickets: $25/advance, $30/door; go to http://www.nydolls.org/tour.php?ID=145 to purchase.
