About Us
The Woodstock Music Shop is entirely locally owned and operated under a corporation called Rock City Music, Inc.
The Woodstock Music Shop has been in operation since 2003, and has expanded and evolved its product lines and services. While mega stores and Internet malls have made an impact on the retail music biz, nothing beats the one-to-one personal service the Woodstock Music Shop offers.
That means we shape our product line to provide unique, quality instruments and accessories to make great musicians sound even better.
The store is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. And the shop's Web site, Woodstockmusicshop.com, sells a number of shop products and includes expansive information about Woodstock's music legacy and scene. |
In June 2009, Jenn Miller and Jeff Harrigfeld took over ownership of the Woodstock Music Shop. They formed Rock City Music and bought the store from another locally owned company called Distant Drummer, Inc., which owned the shop for nearly six years.
Distant Drummer was formed by brothers Ron and Derek Osenenko. For five years, Ron Osenenko, a former officer with Distant Drummer, handled the day-to-day operations of the shop. Sadly, Ron died December 26, 2007. His brother hired a team to manage the business until selling it to Rock City Music.
Jenn and Jeff were familiar faces around town before taking the reigns of the shop.
Jenn, in addition to her work with the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce in 2008, ran the shop for several months after Ron Osenenko passed away. And Jeff was involved in running the popular Colony Cafe, just two doors down from the shop, for five years. His work supporting musicians and promoting music around town was greatly missed after he and Jenn moved to Chicago last September.
But they are now back. And they're committed to growing the Woodstock Music Shop's unique product line, spirit of community and service to the region's unmatched fraternity of accomplished musicians, as well as the region's music lovers and the thousands who visit Woodstock yearly.
The shop's product line includes: essential "bread and butter" items that musicians need; quality string instruments at reasonable prices; an expansive hand drum section; a room full of Levon Helm products; one-of-a-kind and prototype items from local inventors; an extensive instructional material inventory; and a popular and growing vintage LP selection.
And the inventory changes and evolves constantly, making a visit to the Woodstock Music Shop unique and enjoyable each time you stop by.
The shop is located at 18 Rock City Road, near the center of town. You can reach the shop at (845) 679-3224.
