About Us
The Woodstock Music Shop is entirely locally owned and operated under a corporation called Distant Drummer, Inc. Since opening under current ownership in August of 2003, the Woodstock Music Shop has expanded and evolved its product lines and services.
While mega stores and Internet malls have made an impact on the retail music biz, nothing beats the one-to-one personal service the Woodstock Music Shop offers. We drive business under a simple strategy: "You Play. We Listen." That means we shape our product line to provide unique, quality instruments and accessories to make great musicians sound even better.
We also support a popular Web site. And in November 2007, we launched the "new" Woodstockmusicshop.com, a more interactive, expansive site dedicated to serving the needs of local musicians and music lovers with unmatched content, products and services. |

For five years, Ron Osenenko, a former officer with Distant Drummer, handled the day-to-day operations of the shop. Sadly, Ron died December 26, 2007. Daily operations of the shop are now being handled by Jenn Miller. And Ron's brother, Derek, is working with many of Ron's friends and fellow musicians to determine how to keep Ron's vision alive.
Ron built the shop's unique product line, including: the "bread and butter" items that musicians need; quality instruments at reasonable prices; a huge hand drum section; one-of-a-kind and prototype items from local inventors; an extensive instructional material inventory; a popular and growing vintage LP selection; and a rich Web site that offers great prices and service on unique products and informs, entertains and engages visitors in Woodstock's music culture.
If you are a musician or simply interested in the musical heritage that Woodstock offers, a personal visit to the shop is a must. Until then, visiting us online provides a comprehensive, informative and, hopefully, an inspiring virtual experience.
